Are you thinking about taking your furry friend to Shamrock Dog Park today? You have come to the right page. Make sure to check this space every time you are planning a trip to Shamrock Dog Park, just in case! Sometimes Shamrock Dog Park will be closed due to flooding, ice, or other extreme weather conditions. It’s a good idea to make sure that the park is open, using this space, before you venture outdoors.
We get a lot of questions from our members about park alerts and Shamrock Dog Park closings. Many people wonder why they cannot use the park when it is covered with ice. The safety of you and your dog is very important to those of us at Shamrock Dog Park. The ice that forms at our park can be very dangerous to both human and canine park users. While we understand that each and every one of our members must sign a Hold Harmless Agreement, we still want to ensure the safety of all of our community members in extreme situations.
Shamrock Dog Park was built on a flood plain and the Department of Natural Resources Division of Water has very strict laws about what can and cannot be done in this area.
We are not allowed to bring soil or other filler onto the flood plain, or do anything that would affect or alter the flow of the river in any way. For this reason, you may find that at some very rainy days of the year Shamrock Dog Park is extremely muddy. Because of the laws that are in place to ensure the safety of our community, we cannot cover the mud with plastic or bricks, put gravel over the mud, or create a drainage system. You may even find that a couple days of the year Shamrock Dog Park is closed because of flooding.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support and understanding.
