Our History
Shamrock Dog Park has been open to the public for almost five years. The park officially opened on July 1, 2006. Ever since then, dogs and their owners have been enjoying the beautiful outdoor area that we have been able to reserve for dog lovers throughout the region. Shamrock Dog Park attracts dog owners from our own back yard all the way to Illinois. Our history has made us strong. We look forward to becoming even stronger.
The Work of the Community
It was not without the hard work of a lot of people that Shamrock Dog Park became such a fun part of our community. The Dog Park Association of Great Lafayette, a volunteer organization, had been raising funds for three years before the opening of the park. Without their hard work, Shamrock Dog Park would not exist today.
In November of 2004, we got 501©3 non-profit charitable status. The City of Lafayette and the Lafayette Parks Department have supported the association as Shamrock Dog Park was developed and provided the land and maintenance of the area. Without the hard work of all of these organizations the dogs of the area wouldn’t have such an amazing place to play.
